Section Grading Information
The following includes descriptions of the graded components of the course and the grading scale.
Subsection Homework
Homework will be due once a week on Fridays at 3 pm. Assignments are posted on the course website, accessible through Blackboard. Homework will be graded using a holistic grading system. Each section will be scored 0, 5 or 10. You will get a 5 for sets that are mostly complete, but missing some fundamental understanding. You will get a score of 10 if it is complete and mostly correct. You are permitted to not do problems that you feel 100% confident that you could do correctly if asked. Just indicate that it is a problem you are confident in, along with a brief reason. However, be prepared that I may ask you to explain it at a later date. It is generally not advisable to skip the proofs. I will provide feedback on all homework and any problems may be resubmitted to improve your score. All rewrites are due one week following the original due date. In addition, with each Homework set you can earn 4 points for answering the following reflection questions:

Homework extensions will be granted upon request. However, if a student has more than 3 overdue sections, they will receive a 0 in the most over-due sections. It is imperative that students stay caught up on the homework in order to keep up with new material.

Corrections allowed? Yes. Accepted within 1 week of original due date.
Subsection In Class Activites
Each section will have several activities that you will work on as a class or in small groups. All of the Activities should be done in the text on Runestone Academy. You will not be assessed on your specific answers to the activities, but the Activities and Check Your Understanding questions will be graded for completion. The Activities and Check Your Understanding questions will be due every Tuesday by 11:30 pm. These may be completed up to one week late. Generally you should complete the majority of this work in class. You are encouraged to have a laptop or tablet for submitting your work in class.

Subsection Daily Questions
At the start of class almost every day you will be asked to answer (and turn in your answer to) the Daily Questions. These will be a questions on previous material. The purpose of these is primarily diagnostic, not evaluative. They will be graded on a pass/ no pass (P/NP) basis. You may receive a NP on five Daily Questions with no penalty, after that, your will lose 3% of the Daily Question grade for each NP. There are absolutely no make-up questions. Excused absences arranged ahead of class will not count as NP; otherwise, missed Daily Question counts as a NP. It is important to arrive to class on time as these will only take a few minutes.
Subsection Group Oral Assessment of Learning (GOAL)
There will four group oral midterm quizzes. The class will be split into two groups. The quiz will be done in-class. The problems may be solved and presented by any subset of your group. The entire group will get the same grade, but students who contribute more may earn an additional 3% while students who are not active participants may lose 3%. It is expected that you study for the quiz, ideally as a group. Any student who is unable to attend class, for whatever reason, will have an opportunity to take an alternative oral quiz outside of class time. The purpose of these is to encourage teamwork and communication, both of which are important skills in mathematics.

Subsection Grading System
Grades will be determined as follows:

Letter grades correspond to the following percentages:
| A-, A | 90-100% |
| B-, B, B+ | 80-89% |
| C-, C, C+ | 65-79% |
| D | 55-64% |
